MLMs make me nervous…there’s no tip toeing around it.
I’ve never worked with a MLM (multi-level marketing) business before, and I told myself I never would…until Monat came along.
It’s hard to say whether I agreed to work with Monat because their products looked good, or it was just good timing because I’m in the middle of a “self care kick”…but either way, I caved and gave Monat a shot.
What the heck is Monat?
So if you have no idea what I’m talking about, Monat is a high-end line of hair care products that boasts exceptional results (I mean, what MLM doesn’t?). They have a lot of great lines of hair care products, the classic “before and after” pictures, and loads of consultants who sell their products (classic MLM right?).
Let me skip to the chase…does it work?
Is this the first thing you think when hearing names like DoTerra, Younique, Isagenix, or Rodan + Field?
The first thing that I think is…scam!!
I also think, “There’s no way it really works”. Oh, and there’s the pesky issue of the sales people being WAY TOO PUSHY. Sorry random person I used to know 10 years ago, please don’t message me on Facebook and ask me to buy your products…not cool.
So to all my friends who sell MLM, let’s call a spade a spade…MLM has a bad wrap.
But that’s my entire point…because of Monat, I’m warming up to the idea of MLM businesses…I’m slowly being converted.
So yes, long story short…Monat products really do work (or at least the ones I got to try).
Here’s a quick preview of my experience with Monat by Mandy.
How do you pronounce Monat?
This is actually the first question I asked Mandy when she was giving me my blow-out. I had been saying it like, “Monay”, and I’ve also heard, “Mo-nat”, but apparently it’s pronounced like, “Mo-nate” because they’re naturally based, so I think “Mo-nature”.
My experience with Monat
Mandy, from Monat by Mandy, came over to my houses to wash my hair, test out the products, and give me a blowout. We tried the primary line of products, which includes 5 different products:
So what did I think?
Long story short, I’m kind of obsessed now and really want to buy some (fair warning, it’s pricey, so I’m going to have to be selective!).
What did I LOVE?
- My hair is INSANELY silky and smooth
- It feels light, without too much product (aka it doesn’t feel sticky)
- It’s NOTICEABLY better than the shampoo I’m currently using (some random, natural shampoo I got on sale at winners)
- You only have to use a really small amount of product
- I just FEEL good…it’s the perfect combination of soft, silky, and light
- My hair dried noticeably faster than my other system (they claim that’s the case, but I was very skeptical, but turns out, it’s true!)
What I didn’t love:
- The price point is higher than I’m used to paying (I usually just buy whatever is on sale), and I’m frustrated because I like it so much, that I need to start saving for this epic shampoo
- I didn’t get a chance to try it out with curly hair (next time!), because I sometimes wish my hair had more volume and I make up for it by curling my hair
Before & After
I snapped some before and after pictures, which in my opinion, doesn’t really do the transformation justice because the majority of the change is in how my hair FEELS.
I also didn’t want to do the classic before and after pictures where the befores are poorly lit with no makeup, and the after are beautifully lit and photoshopped, so this as real as it gets!
So for the before picture, I actually pre-washed, blow dried, AND straightened my hair myself so that the comparison would be totally equal.
The biggest difference for me was how silkly, smooth, and soft my hair was after the blowout.
So would I recommend it?
Yes! The Monat products are the real deal, and I’m already stalking the website to strategically make my first purchase.
There are a couple other awesome benefits they boast, but I haven’t had a chance to try yet:
- Increases days between washes without needing dry shampoo
- Rejuvenique oil has 100+ uses
- There’s a hair growth product line that helps with hair growth (will be giving this a try when I have post-baby hair loss)
- Bottles last for 2-3 months because of the small amount of products that are required
Where can you buy Monat?
Because it’s an MLM-style business, you purchase Monat through a consultant. I worked with Monat by Mandy, who already runs a very successful cleaning business, so she understands the ins and outs of business and ISN’T PUSHY! (bonus, right?!)
You can check out her products here.
